For years and years I have yearned to see the polar bear migration in Churchill, Manitoba. I talk to the Natural Habitat web guy every year and painfully say "No, not this year." Then someone reminded me that I am old. Oh, really? I don't feel too creaky yet, but I have to face the music and admit it. I AM OLD. Therefore, since this is really the only travel item left on my "bucket list," I finally said yes. What influenced me mostly was that I received an offer knocking off a big chunk of the cost, plus I have been sitting on a travel voucher from Northwest Airlines that makes my air fare only half of what it would otherwise be, neither of which will come my way again, so I jumped on it quickly, just as I did when I got the bargain for Antarctica. Also, I still have on hand the Arctic garb that will keep me toasty warm (in probably an even colder place than Antarctica!). So, I am getting pretty ramped up about this opportunity to see polar bears and other Arctic wildlife and the northern lights probably also from my own little compartment on a tundra buggy miles from civilization. Oh, joy!
